We're trying to be green - just like our coffee beans!

At XITE, we encourage our team to frame decisions in terms of years and decades rather than on the next quarter’s earnings report. Our parent company,Bee Green Energy, is an independent sustainable dynamic energy company which is uniquely placed to develop and manage renewable energy projects over their whole lifespan, including controlled interest in us!Bee Green Energy sustainable approach to business creates a knock-on effect, making us think more ethically about our business practices and taking steps towards becoming a more sustainable business.

In the United Kingdom, the energy supply sector has for years been the single largest contributor to our national CO2 emissions figure, and atBee Green Energy they have a desire to help change this. In 2018, UK net emissions of carbon dioxide were provisionally estimated to be 364.1 million tonnes (National Statistics, 2019). Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main greenhouse gas, accounting for 81 per cent of total UK greenhouse gas emissions. Where possible, XITE aims to assist our parent company in its move away from reliance on fossil fuels by supporting and investing in deep green sustainable technologies such as wind, solar and tidal energy.

XITE has also decided to convert our next fleet of our vehicles to become electric due to the fact that vans are responsible for around 2.5% of total UK emissions of carbon dioxide. Further, XITE is the only UK based supplier for ingredients to reduce carbon emissions. Moreover, for every order we receive online at XITE we are donating 10% of all sales to clean ocean charities to help battle plastic waste in our oceans and by mid 2020, we are hoping to remove all plastic.

Despite an EU target for the UK to recycle at least 50% of household waste by 2020 (Mintel, 2020), XITE is tackling this by producing 100% recyclable aluminium cans. We moved over from plastic bottles to aluminium cans in 2018. Did you know - that every year around 9.591 billion aluminium drink cans are produced in the UK, 75% of which are recycled? Recycling aluminium cans saves energy and natural resources, and also reduces the pressure on landfill sites. From now on, XITE will be providing recycling bins at all of our events.
